The cultivar used to make this tea is a direct descendant of Wuyi tea bushes brought to Taiwan from northern Fujian before Japanese rule. Today it is a very rare variety in Taiwan, as it is no longer used due to the growing trend and inclination towards fragrant teas.
This tea bush has evolved completely differently from its Chinese ancestors in the last century. Nevertheless, a mineral component will be noticeable in the aroma and taste, as well as notes of stone fruits.
This cultivar is great for darker teas, and this tea comes from the Beishan Garden at 1100 meters above sea level, which we can now also officially declare to be organic by all local standards. The tea is complex and sumptuous and requires several infusions to reveal all of its different layers of flavors, textures, and aromas.
An enchantingly beautiful, deep, reddish-brown liquid that captivates with a whirlwind of aromas, fruit compote, roasted nuts and slightly more sensual fresh notes of tobacco leaf. Similar to its distant relatives, this Wuyi tea also has great potential for aging.
This tea certainly provides a rare and authentic tea drinking experience.
