Tetsubin is used to boil water and can be placed on an open flame. It can be small in volume from 0.5 liters to as much as 5 liters. Unlike Tetsukyusu, tea cannot be prepared in it, since it is not coated with enamel on the inside, which is the main difference from Tetsukyusu.
In addition to the fact that the iron material of the kettle enriches the water cooked in it, it also smoothes and improves the taste of the water. This makes it perfect for making delicate Japanese teas. The taste of tea made with water boiled in Tetsubino that remains in the mouth becomes more pronounced and sweeter.
Tetsukyusu, unlike Tetsubin, is used to brew tea. As the inside of Tetsukyus is lined with enamel, tea or hot water can be placed in it even for a long time. However, it should not be heated over an open fire. Therefore, Tetsukyusu teapots are used to make tea, and not to boil water like Tetsubini.
